THE STORY OF DIMINISHED FIFTH RECORDS
Josh Hogan A voice that cries out to oppose and break the image given to its region Diminished Fifth Records shatters the perception that the only music in the East Coast is Celtic and Indie Rock. Born from the idea a label should go beyond the standards set out by others and to reshape the industry, Diminished Fifth Records changes the general perception of a label. Passionate and filled with purpose, the label aims to expose the seedy underbelly of Canada’s East Coast and the often overlooked Metal it makes.

The label has proven its ongoing commitment to the scene time and time again, releasing seventeen albums to date and providing a healthy resource for metal bands across the region. The label has also been very vocal in its support to get the louder side of east coast music recognized. Throughout 2007-2008 the label spearheaded a campaign to have metal music recognized by the East Coast Music Association and to create a new category ‘Loud Recording of the Year’ which was finally opened up at the 2009 ECMA’s. Continuing on its steady recognition the label won both The Coast’s ‘Best Record Label’ as well as Music Nova Scotia’s ‘Company of the Year’ in both 2010 and 2011.
